Eight armed robbery suspects have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State police command in different parts of the state and on different dates.
The police also recovered three pistols and 14 cartridges from the suspects.
Confirming the arrest, the state Police image maker, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, stated that the suspects were helping the police in investigations.
Three of the suspects, Manven Bali, Chekwube Emeka and Ejike Chukwuemeka, were arrested about 8pm on February 9 at their hideouts at Ojodu and Ikorodu areas of the state.
Two locally-made double-barrelled pistols and 14 cartridges were recovered from them.
Nwosu said, “Since the arrest of the three men, they had confessed to different robberies they carried out in Lagos and Ogun states. We are already hunting for one Alhaji Nuhu who the suspects claimed is the receiver of their stolen goods.”
According to reports, a police patrol team, attached to Ketu Division, while on a ‘stop-and-search’ duty at Mile 12 area, intercepted a Toyota Starlet car, marked XA 989 REL, with Lagos commercial colour.
The car was driven by one Kunle Owori who resides at No.15, Anike Abu Street, Bariga with two occupants.
One of the occupants allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and took to his heels when he sighted the policemen.
The police arrested the remaining occupant, Abiola Shittu and the driver.
