Police Apprehends Notorious Assassin Wanted For Murder Of NURTW Chairman

Rafiu Olorunwa Akanni aka Olorunwa, a former chairman of the national union of road transport workers, NURTW, in Lagos State, was arrested by the Nigerian police over the assassination of some members of the union in Lagos state.

The Nigerian police also arrested one Adeola Williams aka Ade Lawyer, a most notorious assassination kingpin in the South West, who the union leader had engaged in the assassinations.

The police personnel of the Intelligence Response Team, who was directed by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to track down the suspects following reports of their link with assassinations in the state, also recovered an AK47 rifle used for the murders.

The professional assassin, who has being on the most wanted list of the Nigerian police for over 5 years following previous assassinations involving him, was arrested in his newly rented house in Akure, in Ondo State by IRT operatives on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.

The suspects according to police sources were responsible for the assassination of one Ganiyu Ayinla, Personal Assistant to one Azeez Adekunle Lawal in Lagos Island on January 23, 2018.

Rafiu Olorunwa Akanni said to be 51 years old who was reportedly indicted by the assassin, Ade Lawyer, according to a police source, was arrested around 3 pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, in Ebute Meta area of Lagos by the IRT operatives.

Also, Adeola Williams, 39 years native of Isasi Village in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, upon his arrest by the inspector general of police team, immediately confessed his role in the assassination of Ganiyu Ayinla in Lagos State and numerous assassinations in the South West.

“He further confessed that one Rafiu Olorunwa Akanni, former chairman of national union of road transport workers, NURTW, in Lagos State hired him to assassinate one Azeez Adekunle Lawal for N1.5 million and was given N500,000.00 advance payment and N1 million to be paid after the assassination but he said they mistakenly assassinated the Personal Assistant, PA, to their target, Mr. Ganiyu Ayinla while their actual target Azeez Adekunle Lawal, who was in the same car with the late Ganiyu miraculously escaped with bullet wounds.
