The noose is shrinking on small and medium sized enterprises in Nigeria. People are spending less, selling off their businesses, and relocating. But just as Andy is ‘checking out’, Ebun Feludu, chief creative director at Plug Media is cooking up a media solution to meet the economic challenges of Nigerian businesses. She calls it Capsule Content Marketing.
Content Marketing is a $15 Billion per annum business in the US, yet Africa is still playing catch up on this democratic playing field that the Digital age offers.
Mrs. Feludu’s theory says, “If you’ve followed a certain path in your life, you can connect the dots and offer a unique product to your core tribe. The added advantage is that your core tribe is not only in your locality; they are a web of people all over the world connected to you by the Internet. With the economy playing out the way it is, we need to begin selling our products to an international audience.”
In the West, veterans like Brian Clark, Jeff Walker, and Tara Gentile are a few of the experts leading the frontier of online content marketing and they all have a worldwide audience.
Content varies from courses on how to play a guitar, sail a boat, be a successful creative entrepreneur or engage local volatile communities successfully.
“The bottom line we cannot sell only to Nigeria; it’s time to sell to the world. You have a unique capsule of knowledge that the world needs. Find it. Sell it. Do it now.”
“Content is presented in various forms such as ebooks, courses or even tangible products, but the most successful medium on which to market the content is via video logs.” She says.
Ebun Feludu explains how it works. “We use video logs to help our clients share their unique capsule content and establish their subject matter expertise to the world. We follow a particular set of rules that deliver results to our clients over and over again.
“Whilst we’ve done a lot of work in the creative industries, we serve other industries also. We were at the Offshore Technology Conference last month and we’ve partnered with Africa Oil and Gas Report to create exciting new content for that Industry. The product will be launched in August at the SPE Conference,” she revealed.
