The ethnic minorities of Plateau State, Nigeria are crying out to President Muhammadu Buhari to save them from a systematic ethnic cleansing by Fulani militia in the state.
Minority Report has published photos of two Berom men who were murdered at a checkpoint set up by Fulani gunmen in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State.
Below is the report and after the photos, which are graphic, but we are constrained to publish them to give a voice to the voiceless.
On Friday August 21, two Berom men were gunned down at a checkpoint in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State.
Jimmy Pam Pwat and Ibrahim Nyam were on their way to Barkin Ladi, Plateau State.
Pwat was passing to Mangu LGA in Plateau State and Mr Nyam’s trip was to end in Barkin Ladi.
On getting to Heipang in Barkin Ladi, the men diverted to follow the road behind the airport, just before the check point in Barkin Ladi.
They passed a check point and the vehicle was flagged. Jimmy reversed his vehicle thinking they were being flagged by a security team and spoke in Berom to their killers.
Pwat and Nyam were sprayed with bullets.
Barkin Ladi is under curfew and the area around the airport is expected to have heavy security presence as the interior parts of the Local Government have been abandoned to attacks from armed Herdsmen with no government intervention.
A false checkpoint in an LGA with a government ordered curfew indicates that the Nigerian Army does little to protect Barkin Ladi from what has become an endless reign of terror.
Until their gruesome deaths, Mr. Jimmy Pam Pwat was a staff with Plateau State Ministry of Finance and Mr. Ibrahim Nyam was a staff with the Education Department, Barkin Ladi.
These frequent attacks do not receive mainstream media attention.
