A woman sued her 12-year-old nephew for $127,000 after he accidentally broke her wrist during a hug.
After series of backlash, Jennifer Connell, decided to appear on a show to explain why she sued her nephew, Sean Tarala.
According to her, she least expected that the issue would be blown out of proportion as the lawsuit was simply an insurance formality to help cover her medical costs.
Connell was tagged the ‘aunt from hell’ coupled with other sorts of names from people who condemned her action after the story went viral online.
She said: “We love each other very much. This was simply a formality with an insurance claim.
”It was a complete shock to me…it was sort of heartbreaking and really painful but also like walking into a film of someone else’s life and I hadn’t been briefed.
“So, I’ve sort of just been in shock since that happened. It sounded terrible to me from the very beginning.
“This was simply a case of formality with an insurance claim. I said at the start of this, I don’t understand why. I don’t want to sue Sean.”
Reacting during the live show, in defence of his aunt, Tarala said: “She would never do anything to hurt the family or myself. She loves us.”
According to reports, the jury ruled against Cornell within 25 minutes which left her lost and confused about what to do with her medical costs.
