Former Nigeria’s President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 showed his soccer skills while playing with the OBJ football team in a soccer duel with the Ogun State Executive Team, led by governor Ibikunle Amosun at the MKO Abiola stadium Abeokuta in Ogun state.
Obasanjo who turns 78 on Thursday, March 5, 2014 wore a yellow jersey with the number 78 boldly written on it.
His team won the match with two goals scored by the ex-president while the special assistant to the governor on Special Duties scored one goal for the government team.
Governor Amosun was named the Most Valuable Player of the match, while Mr. Obasanjo won the Golden boot award and Akin Mabogunje received award of Best Goalkeeper of the match
Speaking to newsmen after the match, Mr. Obasanjo was excited about the game. He noted that sports is a fundamental exercise for both young and old people.
“I am satisfied and fulfilled, even at my age I cherish sport, because it is relevant to health and we should all endeavour to engage in sporting activities”.
