BAUCHI, Nigeria – Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has revealed that his courtesy visit to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed on Thursday, March 13, 2025, focused on governance, economic challenges, and the need for inclusive leadership.
In a social media post on Friday, March 14, 2025, Obi shared details of the meeting, emphasising his commitment to building a “New Nigeria” driven by good governance, transparency, and accountability.
Obi stated that the discussions centred on addressing Nigeria’s economic hardships and exploring ways to foster national development.
“Yesterday, as part of my commitment to the New Nigeria project, I visited Governor Bala Mohammed in Bauchi State to discuss the state of our nation and explore ways to move our people forward,” Obi wrote.
He highlighted the importance of leadership that transcends political, religious, and ethnic divides, prioritising prudent resource management and policies that enhance citizen welfare.
“We reflected on the need for competent and inclusive leadership that transcends political, religious, and ethnic lines, prioritises prudent resource management, and implements policies that will enhance the welfare of our citizens,” Obi said.
The former Anambra State governor also stressed the urgency of initiatives to lift Nigerians out of poverty and criminality, advocating for a more productive and equitable society.
“At this critical time, we must continue to engage, consult, and invest in initiatives that lift our people out of poverty and criminality while fostering a more productive and equitable society,” he added.
Obi reiterated his dedication to investing in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.
