ABUJA, Nigeria – Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin, has detailed a shocking brush with death after armed assailants stormed his residence in Abuja.
The assailants, numbering about eight and driving seven jeeps, broke into his rented home at Brains & Hermas Estate APO 3 in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, vandalizing his bedroom and absconding with critical documents.

Speaking with journalists in Kaduna on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, Jibrin, who is also the Sarkin Fulani of Nasarawa State, stated that the criminals failed to find him at home but kidnapped his houseboy, who was later released.
“Can I use this opportunity to announce that recently some suspected Bandits/Kidnappers forcefully entered my rented House at Brains & Hermas Estate APO 3 FCT Abuja, seriously vandalizing my main bedroom going away with vital documents,” Jibrin revealed.
The intruders reportedly tied up Jibrin’s houseboy, informing him that they had come in search of a supposed hidden N5 billion and ammunition stash.
However, their search proved fruitless.
Jibrin, a respected figure in Nigerian politics, insists that he has no hidden funds or ammunition.
He further clarified that the house in question is a rental due to expire in three months and he does not own any personal property in Abuja, FCT, his local government headquarters in Nasarawa LG, or Nasarawa State HQ, Lafia.
Jibrin expressed his willingness for authorities to audit his bank accounts, asserting that he has never worked with the Federal Government but remained an executive in the Nigerian textiles industry and a strategic member of the National Council of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria.
“I want to assure all that I remain a man of honour and integrity who never worked with the Federal Government. I will always remain Company Executive in the Nigerian 175 Textiles, a National Life Patron of the Industry, and a Strategic Member of the National Council of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria,” Jibrin maintained.
The incident has been reported to the Inspector General of Police, with investigations now under the purview of the FCT Police Commissioner.
He urged Nigerians to be wary of exploiting religious sentiments to achieve personal agendas.
He pointed to the nation’s history of leaders who successfully led without resorting to religion and warned against recent remarks by a former Northern Governor that a Muslim-Muslim agenda was key to his successful rule in his State.
Jibrin emphasized that Nigeria is a diverse country with Muslims and Christians who have coexisted peacefully and appealed to all Nigerians to maintain unity and respect for each other’s faiths.
