NAN – As part of efforts to move the Peoples Democratic Party forward, its governors will meet in Abuja on Monday to discuss ways of getting a new National Chairman for the party.s
The meeting, which will be presided over by the chairman of the Forum, who is also the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, is expected to discuss how to get a substantive chairman for the party.
The party’s former National Chairman, Mr. Adamu Mu’azu, was pressurised to resign by some members of the party, including governors, following the disastrous outing of the party during the last general election.
Since his untimely exit on May 20, the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Mr. Uche Secondus, has been acting as the national chairman of the now opposition party.
Investigations by our correspondent in Abuja on Saturday, showed that the party was still looking at the North-East, where the position of national chairman was zoned to.
Announcing the former chairman’ resignation, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Olisa Metuh had said, “The National Working Committee PDP at its 399th meeting today, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 received and accepted the voluntary resignation of the National Chairman of our great party Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu.
