The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos has accused Governor Babatunde Fashola of supporting the Oba of Lagos’, Rilwan Akiolu’s recent threat to Igbos living in the state to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode in the Saturday, April 11, 2015 or risk death.
Speaking via statement issued by Taofik Gani, its Lagos State Publicity Secretary, the PDP urged Governor Fashola to suspend Oba Akiolu.
Gani further said that the party had directed security agents to hold the monarch responsible if any mishap befalls Igbos or PDP supporters in the state.
He said: “The 48-hour silence of Governor Fashola since the Oba of Lagos made death threats to Igbos indicates that not only is Fashola in agreement with what the Oba said, but that the Oba spoke on behalf of the state government.
“The governor is thus a conspirator in this threat to life and must also be held accountable for any violence in this elections.”
“We have at this point been vindicated about the desperation of the APC to retain Lagos state at all costs including the All Progressives Congress’ plan not to concede the imminent defeat on April 11.
“The positions of the PDP are coming on the heels of the now viral threat issued by the Oba of Lagos to Igbos that they must vote for the APC Governorship Candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode, or be drowned in Lagos water,”
