ABEOKUTA — A pastor has been arrested by Ogun State Police for stabbing his wife because she refused to attend church activities.
Daniel Samuel, 45, is reported to have used a cutlass to cut through the neck of his wife Patience Samuel. The incident took place in Owode-Egba in Ibafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Apostolic Church pastor attacked his wife because she chose to work rather than attend church activities, according to reports.
After Samuel attacked his wife, he cried out for help from neighbours, telling them his wife was matcheted by unknown men, and shuld be rushed to the hospital
On arrival at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba in Abeokuta, the doctor insisted the case be reported to the police as the injuries were severe.
According to reports, Samuel rushed to Owode-Egba Divisional Police headquarters to report the case, and still kept to his story that his wife was wounded by unknown men.
The Police after investigations discovered that the man was responsible for the injuries and subsequently detained him. After interrogation, Samuel confessed to the crime.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the pastor would soon be charged to court. He will be charged for attacking his wife and giving false information.
Adejobi said, “The Pastor is with us, he initially lied to the Police that the wife was attacked by some men but later confessed after interrogation. As such he will soon be charged to court for false information and wounding,”
Mrs. Samuel is still in critical condition and is under close medical observation.
