Raji Michael Ayoola, a 60-year old pastor, has been arraigned before a federal high court in Lagos for trying to export banned narcotics, National Drugs Laws Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, revealed on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.
Ayoola had collaborated with others to illegally export 91 kg of Methamphetamine, a strong nervous system stimulant which is rarely used for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and obesity, and 83 kg of Ephedrine which is also a controlled substance.
Ayoola was apprehended while attempting to export the substances to South Africa in February by agency officials.
According to Mr. Abu Ibrahim, the counsel, the substances both have the same effects as cocaine and heroine.
The offense is said to be punishable under sections 14(b) and 11(b) of the NDLEA Law of 2004.
Ayoola who is a father of six, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Justice Jude Dagat, during the trial on Wednesday, adjourned the case till November 18 and 24.
