Usman Akali Baba, Nigeria’s police boss, has ordered CP Olaleye Faleye, the commissioner of police in Osun state, to investigate the alleged assault of Inspector Olorunsogo Bamidele, a female police officer by her supervisor, DCO Mathew Ajayi, in Ode Omu, Osun State.
In a video which has gone viral, Inspector Olorunsogo Bamidele, a married woman, who had visible injuries on her body, accused her direct boss, whom she simply identified as Ajayi Mathew of stripping, assaulting and threatening to shoot her with a gun, because she refused his sexual advances.
In the video, the police inspector says that the assault was witnessed by 10 civilians and some of her officer colleagues which include two constables. .
“😭👮Today being 01/11/2022 at about 0700hr my name is w/Inspr Olorunsogo bamidele serving at osun state command attached to ode_omu divisional headquarters I was assaulted by ode-omu Dco asp Ajayi Matthew😭👮,” is the text that came with the video to The Trent’s correspondent.
“Excerpt of a statement issued by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force, reads: We will await the report from the Osun State Police Command before necessary actions are taken. However, we assure the general public that justice will be in this case, to protect the core values and ethics of NPF”
