There was outrage in court on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 as a pastor of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Church, Nduka Anyanwu pled guilty to defiling two minors.
Anyanwu was arrested after the two sisters aged 13 and 17 got pregnant and disclosed the pastor had been defiling them repeatedly in the church complex, at Cannanland Branch, Oshodi, Lagos state.
According to an NGO known as Stop The Abuse, Nduka began raping the younger girl when she was just 9 and began raping the older girl when she was 16. They also alleged that the parents of the girls knew but allowed the pastor to carry on because he told them it’s the only way he could remove the “spiritual mark” on them that “repels good things”.
The Police Prosecutor ASP Roman Unuigbe told the court that the randy pastor defiled them on several occassions at the church complex, under the pretext of holding prayer sessions with them.
He added that the offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which stipulates life imprisonment for the offence of defilement of a minor.
Chief Magistrate Mrs A. Adedayo who presided over the case remanded the defendant in a custodial center and adjourned the case to September 15 for facts and sentencing.
