American Apparel has been accused of resorting to ‘underage porn’ to advertise its ‘Back to School’ range of miniskirts. The fashion retailer, renowned for its provocative campaigns, posted an image of a girl wearing one of the skirts on its UK Instagram page yesterday.
In the photo, the model is seen bending over a car in the green plaid skirt – with both her bare legs and part of her buttocks on display.
Social media users were quick to express their disgust over the photo, with many deeming it ‘sexist’ and claiming it objectified women.
Meanwhile, user Sarah Redington said: ‘American Apparel with these ‘back to school’ basics. At what high school do those clothes pass dress code? Not mine.’
On Instagram, one girl, using the handle ‘wordjamming’, wrote: ‘Never thought @americanappareluk would need to resort to porn to sell. Underage porn nonetheless. Shameless.’
Love everyone complaining about this saying it’s not even realistic and that no one would actually dress like that to school. Jesus, you guys ever heard of advertising before?
Obviously a mini skirt halfway up your back with your asshole hanging out isn’t part of dress code. It’s an ad to stir up controversy and get attention. Hey, kind of like how you’re tweeting about it non stop. It’s how American Apparel does business and why they’re in the news every couple months for some super risque ad featuring naked chicks. Catch on already. Seriously I would never hear about these shitty overpriced clothes if it wasn’t for people freaking the fuck out about a model showing a little bit of skin.
PS – Best American Apparel model ever.
Ok on further review American Apparel legitimately just advertises with porn.
