One person had been killed with two others injured on Sunday, January 4, 2015 when an Improvised Explosive Device believed to be abandoned by members of the Islamist terrorist group exploded in Lugda village of Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
It was gathered from sources in the area that someone among a group of youths threw an abandoned inside a burning fire around 6.30AM and shortly afterwards, an explosion sound was heard.
One person died instantly while the injured were rushed to the Federal Medical Center, Yola, for treatment.
According to Punch, Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, while confirming the incident, explained that the situation happened as a result of ignorance of the victims, who acted without prior knowledge of the content of the nylon bag.
