NAN – The Police in Lagos on Friday confirmed the killing of one person in Fadeyi area during a fight between two cult groups.
The state Command’s spokesman, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Nwosu was reacting to the crisis that led to the shutting down of business activities in the area for several hours.
According to him, the cause of the fight is not yet known, describing the cult group “as criminal elements” wanted by the police.
The spokesman, though said no arrest has been made, saying before the police arrived the scene, the suspected cultist have disappeared.
He said further that the police were on the trail of the mastermind of the crisis.
Nwosu noted that the Fadeyi and some parts of Shomolu were becoming notorous for cult activities.
He appealed to members of the public with useful information about cultists and their sponsors to report to the nearest police station.
Nowsu also urged community leaders in the area to assist the police with information as part of community policing.
