Gunmen on Friday, February 5, 2021, attacked Pegi, a community in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and kidnapped one person.
They shot three others but no life was lost.
The people were said to be on their way home around 8:30 pm when the kidnappers ambushed them along the road.
Isaac Aderibigbe, the chairman Pegi Community Development Association, PECDA, who confirmed the incident, said those who sustained gunshot wounds are Edwin Obiekwe, Shittu Adebayo, and another person known as Kola.
He said they are still receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Aderibigbe said efforts are still on to rescue the one person with the kidnappers.
Mariam Yusuf, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police spokesperson, said the Command has launched a strategic counter-kidnapping operation to checkmate the emerging security concerns.
She said they have deployed covert and overt crime-fighting strategies to strengthen security across the Federal Capital Territory especially areas with cumbersome terrain.
Yusuf said the Command was working closely with sister security agencies, key stakeholders, and community leaders to rid the FCT of criminal elements.
She urged FCT residents to report any suspicious persons or activities around their vicinity at the nearest Police Division.
