Some unknown assailants have on Saturday, March 28, 2015 attacked some electoral officials carrying materials for the Presidential and National Assemblies Elections leaving one person dead at Ubima-Ozuaha road in Ikwerre LGA of Rivers State.
A gun duel ensued between the police and the miscreants who intercepted the vehicles of the electoral officials and opened fire on them.
In a related development, a protest has started in Omerelu community in the same LGA following the fact that the INEC has not provided result sheet for the election up until the time of this report.
A source in the community disclosed that some angry youths in the area have set some units ablaze.
Meanwhile, some communities already begun the voting process while awaiting the arrival of the result sheets.
