NAN – The Ondo State Government on Friday, February 6, 2015 announced the approval of the sum of N200m for the sustainability and continuity of the Fadama lll Additional Financing Programme in the state.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Lasisi Oluboyo, stated this at a Forum to Sensitise Stakeholders in Akure.
Oluboyo said the state government was set to pay its counterpart contribution for the Fadama lll Additional Financing Programme, to ensure a smooth sustainability of the initiative in the state.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to the eradication of rural poverty with the creation of jobs through the Fadama lll Additional Financing programme, adding that government was positively dispos ed to the employment of all interested youths in agriculture in the state.
According to him, the state government is equally committed to the successful take off and implementation of the Fadama lll Additional Financing programme.
“The establishment of Fadama Youth Villages makes Ondo State the benchmark all over the country in the area of job creation for the youth.
“It is my belief that the impact of the Fadama lll Additional Financing Project shall be greater than that of the successful Fadama lll project ,” he said.
Oluboyo pledged the State government’s continuous support towards the successful implementation of all the development partners’ programmes in the state.
The State’s Project Coordinator, Mr Olatunji Olusoji, said the state government had earlier forwarded a letter of expression of interest to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the World Bank and the National Fadama Coordination office.
NAN reports that Ondo State was one of the four States in the country whose expression of interest were accepted under the programme.
