15 persons alleged to be operating private hospitals below the required standard have been arrested in Ondo State.
The suspects were arrested in Ondo South Senatorial District following an operation carried out by officials of the Ministry of Health in the axis.
With the affected hospitals sealed off by the ministry, the suspects were accused of operating unethically and violating the stipulated rules and regulations guiding operation of health facilities in the state.
According to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Mrs Folukemi Aladenola, the move became necessary towards sanitizing the health sector of the state against quackery.
While stating that the development will enhance qualitative healthcare delivery in the state, Aladelola emphasized that the officials visited 36 medical clinics located in Ore, Odigbo, Okitipupa, Ilutitun, and Iju-Odo among others.
On his part, the head of the monitoring team and Director, Hospital Services in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ayodele Adelusi, said all the affected facilities will not be re-opened until the necessary requirements were met.
