Old Naira: Buhari, Emefiele Not Relevant After Presidential Election – Oshiomole

Must read

Adams Oshiomhole, a former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has kicked against President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision on the naira redesign policy.

Oshiomhole, who said Buhari is on his own following his recent comment on the naira redesign policy last Thursday, also insisted that Godwin Emefiele, the Central Bank Governor, will expire after Saturday’s presidential election.

The former Edo State governor, who stated this on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Jattu market in Auchi, Edo North, also urged Buhari to obey the Supreme Court verdict on the naira notes.

Speaking in pidgin, Oshiomhole said: “All this wahala wey Buhari put for currency change, my hand no dey inside. Our party don tell Buhari, wait if you wan change currency, you shouldn’t change am during election. Wetin you no change during your time, you wan make am spoil another pesin time, e no good.

“He has to obey the Supreme Court. Supreme Court judgement is superior to the pronouncement of the president. That’s the Nigerian law. I disassociate myself.”

He continued: “Nah them choose ham. If they say dey want to change it, make them give you the new ones. Now they want to remove the old ones, they no give you the new ones. On this matter, President Buhari is on his own. Your naira will remain valid according to the Supreme Court. Don’t throw away your naira, keep it.”

He added: “By the time you finish voting on Saturday, Emefiele, the Central Bank Governor, will expire. Your money will not expire. But the president will expire.”

Daily Post reports that the 2023 presidential election will take place on Saturday.

2023: I Don’t Know Tinubu’s Whereabout – Oshiomhole Admits

Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo state, has admitted he does not know if the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is in Nigeria.

Oshiomhole stated this while answering questions on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

He was asked why the APC has not inaugurated its campaign council ahead of the 2023 elections.

“We are yet to inaugurate our campaign council because the Chairman (President Muhammadu Buhari) was away in New York,” Oshiomhole said.

Oshiomhole, however, added that since Buhari is back in the country, that will happen soon.

When quizzed about Tinubu, he responded: “I don’t report to him every day. So I’m not sure if he’s around or not.”

Reminded that he is the Deputy Director-General of Tinubu’s campaign team and should be working closely with him, Oshiomhole said: “That will be when the campaign council is inaugurated and my office is activated. That has not been done yet.”

‘Forgive me for helping re-elect Obaseki’ – Wike Apologises To Oshiomhole

Governor Nyesom Wike of River State on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, apologised to former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, for supporting the re-election of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State in September 2020.

Wike tendered the apology to Oshiomhole at the inauguration of the Rumuepirikom Flyover in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state which the ex-APC chairman commissioned.

According to Wike, he has learnt and the past should remain in the past.

“I use this opportunity to apologise to you. I came to Edo State to make sure your candidate didn’t win election. I said you won’t win and you didn’t win. That assignment has been done and we now know who is who,” Wike told a smiling Oshiomhole.

“We are now friends, let bygones be bygones,” Wike, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) strongman told the ex-APC national chairman.

“I want to sincerely apologise to you. Each time you learn. People will praise you when you do for them. When you say, they are wrong, they begin to say all sorts of things.

“I’m sure those of them in my party before cannot do anything without Wike but because I said let the right thing be done, let agreement be agreement, I have now become an enemy. These are people who are praising me morning and night,” he maintained, noting that he stands on equity, fairness and justice.
