Olusegun Obasanjo, former president of Nigeria met President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the opening session of the 30th African Union Summit.
Obasanjo on entering the Nelson Mandela Hall venue, exchanged pleasantries with other African leaders attending the summit before seeking out Buhari in the crowd, where he walked to and greeted him.
The two shook hands warmly and talked for about two minutes before they were joined by Abdulsalami Abubakar, former head of state and general, for photographs.
The meeting was the first time both men are meeting publicly since Obasanjo issued a scathing letter criticizing the Buhari administration on grounds of nepotism and economic mismanagement; and advising him not to seek reelection in 2019.
