Obafemi Martins Extends Deal With Seattle Till 2017

The Nigerian forward and Seattles front-man, Obafemi Martins has expressed his pleasure following the extension of his contract by his Major League Soccer side in the United States.

Obafemi Martins said that he is delighted with his contract extension with America’s Seattle Sounders.

The Super Eagles striker, who will be with the Major League Soccer outfit till 2017 also said he is optimistic the club can build on their recent success and perform even better in the league.

“I’ve settled down here and I’m excited to commit to the club for the next few years,” Martins told BBC Sport on Friday October 31, 2014.

“The fans are amazing, the club is awesome and together we are building something massive here.”

“My ambition is to win more trophies here and continue to give my best.

“We have a fantastic squad and our target right now is the MLS Cup. It’s not just about me but we are one hugely ambitious club, so it’s a collective ambition,” he concluded.

Martins netted 17 goals and made 13 assists in the outgoing season league helping Sounders win the Supporters’ Shield and US Open Cup title.
