His Royal Highness Rilwan Akiolu 1, the Oba of Lagos has urged Nigerians to exercise patience, despite the harsh economy prevalent in the country, on Saturday, August 20, 2016.
Addressing journalists at his palace during the celebration of the Isese Festival in Lagos Island, the monarch said:
“I am confident that the economy of the country, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, will change for good because our president is focused.”
he added that the present economic crises is a prelude to a better tomorrow.
“Let us cooperate with the government. Do not take laws into your hands and always inform the security agencies wherever there are criminal activities,’’ Akiolu said.
The Lagos monarch also urged the Niger Delta Avengers to stop bombing oil facilities. He added that the militant group should lay the grievances open so that the federal government can address them.
“I want to use this medium to appeal to the Niger Delta Avengers to give peace a chance,” Oba Akiolu said.
“I agree to some extent with them that certain things have to be done for them, but they just have to give peace a chance and things will work for them.
“They should stop and put their grievances on the table and the government will address it. It is not too late to mend,“ Akiolu said.
He also spoke on the festival, revealing that it was an inherited custom which he takes very seriously.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Isese festival is a combination of rich cultural activities that have been married to foster harmony in the state and country at large.
