A group of gunmen numbering about 20 shot and killed two men during an attack on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in Eku community, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
A member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was also reported to have been abducted by the armed men.
The two victims said to be in their early 30’s were rushed to Eku Baptist Government Hospital after they sustained severe gun shot injuries.
They were later referred to the Delta State Teaching Hospital, where they both died on Thursday, April 9, 2015.
Confirming the abduction of the youth corps member, a senior police officer attached to the Abraka Police station who spoke on anonymity, told Vanguard that they are yet to get a formal record of the victim.
He said, “It is true that an NYSC member was abducted by the gunmen, but we do not have detail of the person yet.”
The state police spokesperson, DSP Celestina Kalu, said she has heard about the abduction of the corps member although she has not yet gotten any official report about it.
