A professional American photographer, Lauren Crow, has captured the real faces of several women as they reach orgasm during masturbation.
She took her time to tactically exclude all forms of male images from the shots which are part of an ongoing project titled “The Little Death”.
Crow took the risque portraits with a sepia effect in a bid to correct the wrong impression projected in films as regards what women look like when they climax.
Sharing the image on her official website, Crow wrote, “In a patriarchal society, women are flooded with information on how to be and how to look in order to please others, namely men.
“In terms of female pleasure, we are rarely shown what it really looks like. We are afraid to talk about it and when it is shown, it is from the male gaze in media such as pornographic films, which in general are made by men for men.
“These films, unless you truly understand their production and falsity, give people the wrong idea of what it really is to see a woman in a state of pleasure.
“This project is an exploration of the antiquated views our society possesses of women and our sexuality. In using an antiqued process with modern ideas of women’s sexuality “The Little Death” aims to help people (of all genders) release their own preconceived notions of what women really look like.
