NSCDC Warns Officers Against Accidental Discharge

Must read

Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the commandant general of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, warned officers and men against accidental discharge in their respective postings.

Olusola Odumusu, the director, Public Relations, NSCDC, Abuja said Dr. Audi gave the warning during the passing out parade of the Basic Arms Training batch 8 at the NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja.

Audi who expressed joy at the outstanding performance of the 420 newly trained arms-bearing officers, said the corps has re-awakened; his action plan to rejig, revamp, rejuvenate, restructure and reposition the Corps to an enviable position both at the national and international arena.

“You can see it clearly that Civil Defence is working and we will not relent in our efforts to continue to justify our existence,” he said.

He congratulated the batch 8 graduands and re-emphasized that training and re-training of officers and men was a pivotal mandate that must be carried out spontaneously as it would enhance productivity, build the capacity of personnel, and develop manpower for effective utilization in harnessing the potentials to guarantee internal security.

“The nation is passing through an asymmetric conflict which differs from the conventional war the country is used to; you will discover that bandits and terrorists do launch their attacks and retrieve back to base after causing devastating and debilitating damages.

“We will, however, not be deterred, rather, we will remain focused and continue to train our personnel as we also continue to collaborate with sister agencies in the fight against insecurity in Nigeria,” the statement said

While congratulating the Officers and men for their successful passing out parade after undergoing eight weeks of intensive and rigorous training, the CG admonished the graduands to go back to their various commands and be good ambassadors of the Corps.

He also stressed that it was an aberration to violate the rules of engagement, as anyone involved in accidental discharge will face the music squarely.
