Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have arrested one Abdullahi Muhammad over alleged vandalization and theft of street lights armoured cables in Jigawa State.
Adamu Shehu, the spokesman of Jigawa State NSCDC, stated this in a press statement issued to journalists in Dutse, the capital of the State.
He said the 48-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday, December 31, 2021, at about 0630hrs along Sarkin Arewa Government Day Secondary School in Birniwa Local Government after he stole armoured cable.
“The armoured cable covers an estimated area of about 3 kilometers and measuring 175 meters with each meter selling at the rate of N9,000, with total value of N1,575,000,” he said.
Adamu said the action plunged the whole area into darkness.
He said during the process of investigation and interrogation, it was discovered that the suspect was once arrested and charged to court on the same offence.
The suspect confessed to the crime and will be charged to court.
