61-Year-Old Man In Court For Raping A Child

Oyo State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has charged a 61- year-old man to court.

The suspect was arraigned on Friday, October 22, 2021, for allegedly raping a minor.

Michael Adaralewa, the NSCDC commandant, who spoke in Ibadan on Friday, October 22, 2021, disclosed that the suspect was charged to court for rape.

It was gathered that the suspect, Mr. Olayiwola Rasak of S6/387 Oke Oluokun Kudeti Road in Ibadan was arrested for defiling a 15 years old minor.

The suspect was said to have raped her for over four years.

The suspect, according to NSCDC, allegedly disvirgined the girl when she was 11 years old.

Adaralewa said that the offense contravenes Section 34(1) and punishable under section 34(2) of the Child Rights Law of Oyo state by the Anti-Human trafficking and child protection unit of the command.

He explained that the suspect was arraigned after a medical examination and thorough investigation.

He added that the suspect voluntarily confessed that he once had sexual intercourse with the victim.

Adaralewa warned anyone indulging in such acts to desist as NSCDC would not hesitate to bring offenders to justice as usual.

Chief Magistrate S. H. Adebisi of family court 1 Iyaganku, Ibadan after listening to the count charges against the suspect remanded him till November 8, 2021.

The suspect had been remanded at Abolongo Correctional Centre in Oyo town.
