Chelsea’s midfielder, Cesc Fabrigas has discard the allegations that he has been trying to talk Barcelona’s midfielder, Lionel Messi to Stamford Bridge.
Messi has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou side after his issues with the with club’s president Josep Bartomeu and the head coach, Luis Enrique.
Chelsea has reportedly been on Messi’s radar since situation at Barcelona, but Fabregas has dismissed rumour that he has been luring his former team-mate over a potential move.
Speaking with Onda Cero on Friday, January 9, 2015, Fabrigas stated that Messi’s issue with Barcelona management was only exaggerated by the press.
“His situation has been made out to be worse than it really is. Messi is happy at Barcelona and the club’s happy with him.
“I get a bad feeling about it when people are saying that I am trying to convince Messi to join Chelsea. What makes people think I can discuss contracts? I am just a footballer.” He claimed.
“Leo will do whatever makes him happy. As his friend and former team-mate, it would be great if I get the chance to play with him again.
“I don’t really know Luis Enrique. I know Messi, though, and I really doubt that the things people say happened really did happen. Leo is a quiet guy and I have never seen anything like that during the three years we were team-mates.”
The former Arsenal midfielder also talked about his decision to leave Barcelona for Chelsea, revealing that Chelsea’s coach, Jose Mourinho, influenced the transfer.
“I never imagined I could end up at Chelsea a few months ago, especially bearing in mind my past at Arsenal. But you can never rule out anything in football.
“I had no trouble making a decision after I had opted to leave Barcelona. I had to be selfish and look at the best option for myself. I spoke with Mourinho and I had made my decision within 10 minutes. He convinced me to join Chelsea.” He said.
