The Nigerian Federal Government has been urged to go back to the investigation of the alleged sponsors of terrorist group, Boko Haram.
The Nigeria Labour Congress made this call through its President, Mr. Ayuba Wabba. The NLC made the call through a statement released on Sunday. Nigeria’s security agencies were also asked to be resolute in their determination to stamp out terrorism.
“For us at the Nigeria Labour Congress, we believe this latest attacks should not weaken the morale of the forces involved in the battle against terrorism in our country, rather it should reinvigorate their fighting spirit and should be seen by the Federal Government as a challenge to arm our forces with more sophisticated and superior weapons both for intelligence gathering and combat.
“Beyond this, we urge our government to order the immediate re-investigation, arrest and prosecution of all those previously indicted of sponsoring terror gangs, especially the Boko Haram sect and other such violent groups in any part of the country.
“The freedom of those who sponsor deadly violence put the entire country seated on time bomb that can explode at will. No matter how highly placed, whoever have been indicted should immediately be apprehended and re-investigated now,” part of the statement read.
Wabba also called on Nigerians to condemn the recent Abuja bombings which he believes were intended to divert attention from recent successes Nigeria’s troops recorded against the terrorists.
He further called on all Nigerians to consider the battle against terrorism as a collective one and therefore report all suspicious movements to the security agencies.
For the victim of the bomb blasts, Wabba wants the Nigerian government to ensure that they receive the best medical attention
