ABUJA, Nigeria – The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Olukayode Egbetokun, has condemned a shocking incident involving a police team that ran over a citizen with their vehicle in Ekpoma, Edo State, on June 29, 2023.
IGP Egbetokun has taken decisive action by directing the involved policemen, who are currently in detention in Edo State, to report to the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, July 3, 2023, for further disciplinary action.
A statement was issued on Friday, June 30, 2023, by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, which reads: “Members of the public, particularly the people of Ekpoma, are implored to remain calm as the present leadership of the NPF will not condone such an act of unprofessionalism and illegality.”
This incident has raised concerns about police conduct and the need for accountability and professionalism within the Nigerian Police Force, NPF.
