Arrangements have been made for the Nigerian mIlitary to take over the activities of the Strike Force in Presidential Villa, a responsibility which has been exclusively that of the Department of Secret Service.
The Strike Force is a special security outfit bestowed with the responsibility of protecting the President ands the seat of power.
Following the rejection of 252 DSS officials by President Muhammadu Buhari, a top official in the presidency who pleaded to be anonymous, on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 disclosed to newsmen that a Lieutenant who will be leading 21 other military personnel had already been transferred to the Strike force with an instruction to take over from the DSS officials.
“DSS officials are the ones that have been serving in the Strike Force.
“With this development military personnel will take over from them henceforth.
“We are aware that the situation is causing palpable tension as there is a possibility of a showdown.
“But we are working hard to ensure that the situation did not degenerate,” the Presidential official revealed.
Strike Force operatives gain wealthy trainings abroad on counter-assault and other techniques aimed at making their jobs easier.
The source in an attempt to elaborate the nature of their duties stated that the Strike Force operatives were the ones former President Olusegun Obasanjo erroneously referred to as snipers in his widely publicised open letter to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Another top official who is abreast with the happenings in Aso VillaFFICI disclosed that machinery had also been set to change the new Presidential Villa’s Administrative Officer, who was deployed by the DSS and to be replaced with a military officer.
He stated that the fate of all DSS officials currently serving inside the Presidential Villa are hanging.
