Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers on Sunday in Tunis won the AfroBasketball competition. They overcame the Angolan team in the final to clinch the title for the first time ever.
D’Tigers beat Angola 74-65 in what was seen by many as a rematch of the 2003 final in Alexandria, Egypt. Angola won that particular game, 86-65.
The victory means that Nigeria has now secured direct qualification for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
