The operatives of the State Security Service (SSS), also known as the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested and detained the Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Mr Austin Okojie, two weeks ago.
The Trent gathered that Mr Okojie was tortured by the DSS officials which left him in a pitiable state before he was released 13 days later.
Following the news, some irate Nigerians took to different Social media on Monday, August 3, 2015 to vent their anger against the current administration led by General Muhammdu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
President Buhari appointed Lawal Daura, his kinsman from his hometown in Katsina on July 2, as head of the DSS after firing Ita Ekpeyong. Daura was recalled from retirement as he had retired from the service of the DSS when he reached the mandatory age of 60 according to the Civil Service rules of Nigeria.
Below are some Tweets from some concerned users:
So PMB instructed Daura to detain the Akwa Ibom INEC REC ? That's absurd
