Nigerians have come together to demand Justic for a student who was starved and sexually abused in Deeper Life High School Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
11-year-old Don Davis Archibong was enrolled in the school in October, 2020 and was pcked up by his mother in December when the school vacated for Christmas break.
His mother, Deborah Okezie, in a live video on Facebook called out the school owned by Deeper Life Bible Church, for subjecting her son to harsh conditions in school, deliberately dtarving him as punishment and exposing him to sexual abuse.
According to Okezie, little Don Davis disclosed how he was sexually abused by senior students, whom he named.
He said the senior students penetrated his anus with their fingers.
Don Davis has been admitted in the hospital since he was picked up from school. His mother says he experiencing trauma and has panic attacks in his sleep.
After the live video which went viral, the Akwa Ibom state governemnt ordered an investigation into her claims.
Okezie returned to Facebook to disclose she is being intimidated by the commissioner of education in the state, Enobong Udemeabasi Mbobo who was leading the investigation.
According to the victims mother, Mbobo summoned her to report to her office with little Don Davis for the panel to question him.
On getting there, Okezie said she met a panel comprising the commisioner and her team, representatives from the management board of the school and parents of other students of the school.
In what she described as an ambush, she alleged the commissioner orderd her to delete the video she made on Facebokok. She added that she was harrassed and intimidated by the panel to the extent that a parent brought out his belt to beat her up and items were thrown on her by the panel present.
In repsonse to this intimidation, Nigerians have taken to social media to condemn such acts calling for justice to be served in the case.
Below are some tweets:
I hate to see mothers cry especially over their children.
There are a lot of kids in that school suffering the same and they can’t speak because of fear.
This act is condemnable!
I pray her heart heals and she gets justice for her son#justicefordondavies #deeperlifehighschool— Sweet Appeal 🐠 (@HoneyTickle) December 28, 2020

It is easier to overlook malnutrition and simply withdraw the child from the school but sexual abuse is a forever damage. #deeperlifehighschool must be probed. Pastor Kumuyi do the needful sir. #justicefordondavies pic.twitter.com/JB8akqoBEg

Its upsetting how the name & image of an 11 year old boy who has suffered terrible abuse is plastered all over the internet. But we do not know his abusers. Or the people who are working so hard to cover this up.#JusticeForDonDavis
