The Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Eyitere Joseph, who was filmed extorting a member of the National Youth Service Corps.
The ASP had allegedly collected a bribe of N50,000 from the corps member at Ile-Iwe area of Lagos State on Monday, April 4.
But in a tweet on Tuesday, the Acting Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the officer had been arrested and was being queried over the matter.
He also said the police had started an investigation into the matter.
According to him, Eyitere is attached to the Meiran Division of the Lagos Police Command and the Divisional Police Officer had been warned never to allow a repeat of the incident.

He wrote on Twitter, “ASP Eyitere Joseph, in connection with this case, has been arrested in Lagos. He is being investigated and queried for further disciplinary actions.
“He is attached to Meiran Division, and the DPO Meiran Division has been warned for the first time, if such happens again, she will be dealt with according to the provisions of the law. We will always act and deliver as expected. We have promised to name and shame.
“How would a father extort a corps member? Too bad and we condemned that in totality. Thanks.”
