Nigerian Police Arrest Crypto Billionaire BLord Over Alleged Fraud and Terrorism Funding

ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian police authorities have apprehended a prominent cryptocurrency figure, Linus Williams, widely known as BLord.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Police Force, officially confirmed Mr William’s arrest in a statement released on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

BLord was taken into custody in connection with a series of serious allegations, including violations of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, cryptocurrency fraud, terrorism funding, and facilitating internet fraud.

The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and the Nigerian Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) are conducting the investigation.

In the official statement, ACP Adejobi outlined the scope of the investigation, saying, “The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating complaints lodged against BLORD GROUP, BLORD REAL ESTATE LTD, BLORD JETPAYE LIMITED, and BILLPOINT TECHNOLOGY. These offences include allegations bothering on cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.”

“We will do due diligence in our investigations. Our cyberspace in Nigeria must be safe and secure by all means. We are committed to achieving that,” ACP Adejobi stated.

This development marks a significant crackdown on alleged financial crimes as BLord was prominently playing in crypto.
