After months of stellar performances, battle rounds and public votes, 21-year-old Nigerian Mo Adeniran was crowned the winner of The Voice UK during Sunday, April 3, 2017 night’s live final.
Whilst the show was disrupted by a stage invader and Tom Jones accidentally swearing on air, nothing could detract from the 21-year-old’s joy as he beat Welsh duo Into The Ark to be named the winner.
Flabbergasted as the result was announced, Mo looked on in shock whilst his mentor Jennifer Hudson immediately burst into tears of happiness.
Battling it out on the night alongside Mo was Jamie Miller and Into The Ark, but it was ultimately Mo’s spectacular performance of ‘Iron Sky’ by Paolo Nutini that got the viewers voting, and the performance of his winner’s song just sealed the deal.

“If that sound is not a representation of what The Voice is about, I don’t know what is,” mentor Jennifer Hudson said.
“Your sound is your own. It’s timeless; it’s something that doesn’t come around every day. It’s what I’ve been looking for since I’ve been here.
“Thank you for telling your story and putting your heart on the stage.”
Jamie Miller opened the final tonight with a reprise performance of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’, then Into the Ark took to the stage with Drake’s ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’ and Mo rounding it out with ‘Iron Sky’.
After all three acts performed, it was Jamie who got the least amount of votes and finished in third place while Mo and Into the Ark went on to perform what would be their winner’s single if they won the vote tonight.
Who is Mo Adeniran?
Mo currently works night shifts in a hotel but is determined to make his mark as an artist.
The 21-year-old Nigerian singer battled to find his voice following a secret double tragedy that he hid from The Voice cameras.
According to the Mirror, Mo overcome the odds to appear on the show after he suffering the heartbreak of losing one of his closest friends.
He came to The Voice with best friend Max Vickers, who made it through to the semis, after producers scouted him out for the show.
What is Mo Adeniran’s background?
Mo was adopted into a family at the age of three – only to be taken away again at the age of eight after it was discovered his adoptive mother was abusive.
He told Daily Star Sunday: “Social services stepped in. They saved me. It was a physical thing. She could be very hands on at times. Things happened that weren’t right.”
The star was then placed back into social services and his turbulent family life led him to go off the rails as a teen.
This came to a head when Mo lost his close pal in 2015 after he died from a drug overdose.
Mike Carter, who was one of Mo’s bandmates, battled with an addiction to painkillers which he was taking for chronic back pain.
Tragically, Mo suffered another personal loss when his friends from the band Viola Beach died in a car crash last year.
The band, also from Warrington, were to play at a tribute concert for Mike before the accident Sweden which killed Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, and Jack Dakin.
