ZAMFARA, Nigeria – In a series of coordinated military operations, Nigerian troops have neutralised four notorious bandit kingpins in Zamfara State, according to reports from PRNigeria on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

The operation, part of the ongoing mission codenamed Operation Hadarin Daji, marks a critical step in the nation’s fight against armed banditry and terrorism in the region.

The bandits, identified as Ibrahim Nagure, Lawali Dodo, Kadiri, and Jambaleri, were killed following the successful military operation that also led to the elimination of Halilu Sububu, a well-known architect of terrorist activities in the North West.

Sububu’s death, reported earlier, was a significant victory for the military, as he had long been a key figure in violent attacks and kidnappings in the region.

The same day, military forces captured Hosseini Osman, a wanted terrorist leader in Plateau State.

Osman was apprehended in Ganawuri village, located in the Riyom local government area, where he confessed to masterminding several deadly attacks across Plateau State, including a recent assault on Ganawuri village.

The attack, which led to the tragic deaths of several innocent civilians, had gripped the community in fear.

Osman also admitted to being involved in a kidnapping syndicate responsible for a series of abductions.

Leveraging intelligence from Osman’s capture, troops quickly mobilized to Kyaram village in Kanam local government area, successfully rescuing multiple kidnapped victims.

Military operations are continuing in the area, with further efforts to dismantle the bandit networks.

Meanwhile, in a parallel development, troops launched an ambush on fleeing Boko Haram terrorists from Sambisa Forest as they attempted to escape toward the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza local government area.

The ambush resulted in substantial casualties among Boko Haram fighters, and troops seized a large stockpile of arms and ammunition.

In Kaduna State, a separate operation targeted a suspected terrorist hideout in the Gobarawa Forest in Birnin Gwari.

Troops raided the location, causing criminals to flee and abandon a cache of weapons, including five AK-47 rifles, 16 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and five motorcycles.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a military defense source confirmed that the operations are part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on terrorist activities and restore peace to the regions affected by banditry and insurgency.

Earlier reports indicated that Halilu Sububu, who was killed in Thursday’s operation, had been involved in numerous violent incidents across Zamfara State.

Military sources confirmed that Sububu had orchestrated the killing of a Department of State Services (DSS) drone pilot about two months ago and was linked to several other civilian deaths and abductions.

Military operations in the region continue, with further offensives planned as security forces seek to dismantle the remaining terrorist cells.
