Uyobong Ukonne, a graduate of Chemistry in New Jersey City University has been declared missing by the police after drowning on a rafting trip with friends on the Delaware River on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
22-year old Ukonne as reported by friends who were with him during the rafting trip had taken off his jacket and jumped into the water which was about 2o-foot deep.
Ukonne is believed to have drowned in the water as he was a bad swimmer after unsuccessful attempts by the police to save him.
Joe Hinkes, the chief ranger of the Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River said since the day of the sad incident, divers have been searching through the river foot by foot in search of Ukonne who from all indications had drowned in the river.
