Liverpool Ladies on Friday, January 23, 2014 unveiled the 20-year old Nigerian footballer, Asisat Oshoala as their new signing.
Oshoala who was voted as the most valuable player at the U20 World Cup in 2014 is the first player from Africa to compete in the Women’s Super League (WSL).
In addition to her outstanding performance in the Under20 World Cup, Oshoala also helped her club, Rivers Angels to their first league title victory since 2010 as they beat Pelican Stars to become Nigerian champions.
Oshoala, popularly called ‘Seedorf’ said: “To be able to join the reigning Super League champions is absolutely fantastic.
“Liverpool Ladies are a massive club with some fantastic players who I believe can help me to develop my game to the next level.
“It was also a big incentive to be able to play in the Women’s Champions League, which is a huge competition that I’m confident we can do well in.”
