A 38-year-old Nigerian drug convict Daniel Enemuo, including five foreign nationals, were executed by firing squad in Indonesia on Sunday, January 18, 2014 after they were convicted on drug charges.
The foreigners, from Brazil, the Netherlands, Vietnam, Malawi and Indonesia, were executed at around midnight, despite international appeal to the Indonesian government to spare their lives.
According to reports, the convicts are the first people executed under President Joko Widodo, who was sworn into office in October 2014. The executions was signed by him in December 2014.
