In 2004, Nigerian hip hop artist, Eedris Abdulkareem had a huge disagreement with then President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo because of his controversial song ‘Jaga Jaga’. Back then, the president immediately came on national television and demanded the song be banned as he described it as thrashy and unpatriotic.
A few years later, reports suggested that Obasanjo and the rapper had settled their differences.
However, with the 2015 general elections drawing near, Abdulkareem who is a strong advocate of President Goodluck Jonathan re-election is not pleased with Obasanjo.
He made this known in a new interview with The Net were he disclosed the former president is just out to frustrate and humiliate President Jonathan’s administration.
He said ‘It’s not about settling anything, the point is about date, facts and time. OBJ left office and started writing letters, then he left Ogun State and travelled to Maiduguri to have a meeting with the Boko Haram dude, and 24hours later the guy’s brother in-law was killed. Then 4 months later he asked the president if he wants to negotiate with Boko Haram that he can talk to them, why didn’t he resolve it if he’s a true elder statesman.
Don’t forget the Mohammed that baba went to visit was arrested and locked up during OBJ’s government and was released at about the same time Asari Dokubo was arrested in Aso Rock, so if you put two and two together you’ll know some of these things are intentional factors to humiliate and make the guy (Goodluck Jonathan) look like a fool, so people will be like if to say na OBJ he for don do this or do that. Come on, this is pure propaganda, but with Goodluck, Oluwa Is involved.’
When asked what his present relationship with Obasanjo , the outspoken rapper said: ‘Obasanjo is my friend and he’s my mugu.’
