Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles coach, has said that his team is missing three of their best midfielders ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly match with Algeria on Friday, October 9, 2020.
Recall that midfielders, Oghenekaro Etebo and Wilfred Ndidi will both miss the Algeria clash due to injury.
Rohr also said that he wants to see ‘good football’ when his team tackle the Desert Foxes.
He explained that he is desperate to see how some of his new players will perform during the game against Algeria rather than seeking a revenge.
Nigeria and Algeria will face each other on Friday night at the Worthersee Stadium in Klagenfurt in Austria.
The Super Eagles lost to Algeria in their last meeting at the semi-final of the 2019 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Egypt.
“I want to see our new players. I want to see good football. The two games will be interesting, and it’s a good test for us,” Rohr told a pre-match news conference on Thursday, October 8, 2020.
“It is neither a friendly nor a revenge game. It is a preparation, test game where we try out new players, and we have a new midfield.
“We’re missing three of our best midfielders, and we have to see how the new boys blend in & still play beautiful football.”
