The Super Eagles of Nigeria remains the 31stbest team in the world in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday, December 19, 2019.
It means that the Gernot Rohr’s side is the third best ranked team in Africa.
Nigeria being the third best country in Africa has a significant bearing on the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification – CAF Second Round as they are one of the seeded teams and will be in pot one when the draw is held at the Nile Ritz-Carlton in Cairo, Egypt on Saturday.
The nine countries the Super Eagles cannot face in the second round of the World Cup qualifiers are Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Ghana, Egypt, Cameroon, Mali and Democratic Republic of Congo who are among the top ten ranked African nations and will all be seeded for the draw.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on February 20, 2020.
