President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday, January 11, 2015 likened Nigeria’s situation to the turbulent journey of the children of Israel in the bible from Egypt to the promised land, adding that Nigeria will surmount all stumbling blocks preventing the country from getting to her Eldorado.
President Jonathan made the statement while speaking at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Gwarinpa, Abuja where a special thanksgiving service was held for the successful wedding oh his foster daughter Inebharapu, who was joined in holy matrimony on Saturday, January 10, 2015.
He said: “Whenever I think about all these happenings in Nigeria, I remember the journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land. When God promised they were going to be given a land full of milk and honey, ordinarily one would have expected them to walk in and get the milk and honey.
“But they had to cross the Red Sea that was a challenge; they had to meet people like Annas and others, that was a big challenge but because God wanted them to be there, they were able to get there. Surely, we will get to where we want to go as a nation. We may have the road bumps, we may have the obstacles but we will crush them and pass them.”
