MINNA, Nigeria — The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old suspect, name withheld, for allegedly robbing a Point of Sale (POS) attendant at Lawu Estate in the Bosso Low-Cost area of Minna.
The incident, which occurred on September 13, 2024, involved the suspect threatening the attendant with a long sharp knife and making off with N100,000.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, a distress call led police operatives and community members to apprehend Danjuma shortly after the robbery.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the 17-year-old confessed to the crime, admitting that he was acting under the instructions of two other gang members who are still at large.
The police were able to recover the knife used in the crime as well as the stolen N100,000. An investigation is ongoing to locate and arrest the other members of the gang.
The swift arrest highlights the commitment of the Niger State Police Command to addressing armed robbery and ensuring public safety.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of the remaining suspects to come forward and assist in the investigation.
