The new militant group in the oil-rich region of Southern Nigeria, the Niger Delta Avengers has issued a children’s day statement on Friday, May 27, 2016 wishing the children of the region a happy children’s day.
In a statement published on the group’s website and shared to its Twitter handle, Colonel Mudoch Agbinibo, spokesperson of the group derided the Nigerian government for failing to provide unlimited opportunities to the Nigerian children.

The group promised to do what the government had failed to do as it shared photos of children in the Niger Delta region. The photos are set around oil installations and the polluted waters in the restive region.
“Childhood is an enchanting vista, an endless fun a joyful classroom an experience era of imagination and hope,” Agbinibo said.
“The children of the Niger delta region is missing by deliberate policies of every successive Nigeria (sic) government.
“If you plant honesty you will reap trust, if you plant goodness you will reap friendship, if you plant humility you will reap greatness. Childhood means unlimited opportunities for children.
“This is what the Nigeria (sic) government has refuse (sic) to give you the children of the Niger Delta. But what they have refused to give to you is what we (Niger delta avengers) are promising you,” the statement read, unedited.
“Happy Children’s day,” it concluded.
The militant group has claimed responsibility for an attack on a major NNPC pipeline just before midnight of Thursday going into Friday, May 27, 2016.
